I played a bit with the anti-skating earlier this evening, and was able to get rid of the static on all the records I put, so one problem solved.

For the contant rattling sound, I looked at the bearing and I saw some interesting stuff : it is only a machined spindle, resting in a metal hole in the turntable housing. When I drop the bearing in the hole itself, it goes down slowly, and ends up with a popping sound, like some compressed air being popped out (or a fart). The part of the sub-platter which rests on the top of the hole is not made with the same material as the bearing itself. I didn't see any kind of oil on it, so I guess it is made to spin this way. However, when I spin it manually, when I make the motor spin the subplatter only or when I make the motor spin the subplatter and the platter, there is a slight scratching sound that comes from the bearing, so I guess that's where the unwanted sound is coming.

I'll try some different oils to see if it changes the sound.

Unless I'm missing something, it doesn't sound like you have an oil-bearing table. If it needs oil, there should be a "pool" surrounding the bearing; this is where you put the oil. At least it's that way on my table. Your bearing might need a tiny amount of grease, but that should have been applied at the factory.

Sounds like a faulty bearing to me.

It's true that the MMF-5 calls for no oil, though I do seem to recall discussion on another forum regarding this very problem (on an MMF-5) and oiling the well and spindle taking care of the problem.

At the very least I suggest he tries it and report his findings. It may or may not help but he won't know unless he tries.

I tried putting some sae-30 oil on the teflon part of the bearing (the part that sits on the hole). Doing so, I wiped the metal part of the spindle with a Q-tip and it came back darkish... So I guess there were some tiny particles of dust all over the spindle as the grease is transparent. I also looked closely at the part of the bearing closer to the platter, and I saw some horizontal marks, as if sharper dust particles left very thin marks on the metal.

When I put the bearing in the hole again, there was a slight scratching sound when the the bearing came all the way through, so I guess it is because of those dust particles.

Putting the bearing again in the hole, there was still that rattling sound with the motor running, but strangely enough, once every two turns... weird.

I wiped the metal spindle again with Q-tips, and put some sae-30 on the metal. When I put it in the hole again, there was still the scratchy sound at the end, and with the motor running there was still the rattling sound every two rotations of the bearing.

Should I wipe thoroughly everything with alcool and make sur everything is 100% clean before putting grease again to make the sounds go away?

try it by all means but if there are marks on the spindle where it goes into the sleeve I would contact Music Hall and try and get a new bearing. You simply shouldn't have these kinds of issues on a relatively new deck like this. It sounds as though it's been poorly treated.
