I have a unopened LP of Foo Fighters Medium Rare.  I have low quality mp3's but I want to get some HQ Flac of the album, but I don't want to open it.  
 
Any Ideas?  I want to download them, but I am afraid of getting in trouble, but is it illegal to DL the files If I own the physical medium?

You could download the music legally. Not trying to be sarcastic at all. I'm just saying that is an option as well.

I have no problem doing that, but all I can find is MP3, I would like to find it in FLAC or some other HQ audio format.

True, my fault on that. I guess what I should have said was that you could buy the CD copy and make your own rips.

I've 'illegally' downloaded over 100GB of mp3 music and some FLAC, never got into any trouble, never installed a virus as a result.

I'm gonna sound like a ******,but,if you own the vinyl,why not open it and enjoy it. Use it as your master to get your digital files and put it away if you must.

In some countries it's perfectly legal to make a backup of music you've bought, in which case it would be legal to download a free copy too. But when you download torrents you normally make the file available to others at the same time, so you might fall foul of the law that way.
