I have a Pro-Ject Xpression III and it is great.

My vote would be this:

If you do not have a cartridge budget, buy the MMF-5.1 $699 w/ a $299 cart is a good deal.

If you have a cartridge budget like I did, buy the Pro-Ject Xpression III.

MMF has a better dual-plinth design and better cartridge.

Xpression III has a better arm and better platter (acrylic).

I paired the Grado Platinum with the Xpression III and could not be happier.

That's pretty sound advice right there.
