I've been looking into recoloring a pair of HD25-1 ii's I have and from what i've seen around here the best way to do that is with vinyl dye.  However, I haven't found a whole lot about it around here and i'm not really sure which brands to use.  I think I read somewhere on here that there are certain brands that claim to produce the effect that vinyl dye does but in reality they don't.
 
I was thinking about using something along the lines of this:
