I have never heard of such a problem with any vinyl brush. Have you considered contacting the manufacturer to find out if it can be replaced free of charge?
I use both the Hunt EDA brush and the Discwasher D4.
Both are quite durable, I use them over 10 years now. The D4 has much better cleaning action, but you do need to do it wet & dry. I use the Hunt brush if I just want to do a quick-clean.
