Taking the cloth filters off will result in even more detail, openness and treble sparkle but not in a bad way. It actually sounds a lot more exciting to listen to without the cloth filters so I would recommend you try that. You can also try the cloth filters from the MK1 007, It's somewhat an in-between the stock cloth filters and without. With the MK1 007 cloth filters, the tonality is nearly identical to the Omega but I overall prefer no cloth filters with this headphone.

This is exactly what I expect and makes total sense in how it would result in this. I know it sounds weird, but that's exactly what I *don't* want, but only because I get that flavor already from the 009, Shang Sr. and Immanis. Like the Valkyria, I really enjoy how unique the ES-2a sounds with it's warmer character and slight lack of hyper focused detail (still really detailed).

When people talk about some of the serial variations of the 007 MK1, I've shared similar thoughts. I know some versions offer higher detail, less darkness and more clarity, but that's not what I want out of the 007. I would if it were my only/favorite pair of headphones and if I wanted to optimize them as such.

That said, I'm totally gonna try it at some point just to get a reference and I absolutely understand why many would prefer having them off. Great tip on using the 007 filters, if it has less of an impact in swinging the sound of them that would be preferred for me here.

Before getting to ES-2a thoughts a bit later, just sharing a few pics from my recent extended trip. A much needed 9 days away. I spent the first 4 days in the Netherlands, one of my favorite places and the remainder in Barbados. I always planned to get somewhere in the Caribbean, as I haven't spent much time there as an adult. The Netherlands just kind of popped up via a late invitation from friends. Odd combo and had to pack two completely different set of clothes because of the weather lol.

Side note, I would never visit Amsterdam again on King's Day. Awesome culture and energy around the holiday, but more people than I have ever seen in my entire life lol. The Paris Olympics were less crowded lol. But really cool to see the vast seas of ppl in orange.

I never mentioned, but the original new job I secured fell through as we tried finalizing the paperwork--the new org I was headed to just implemented a strict no hire of remote positions policy (I've been fully remote for 5 years). So moving to a city with a local office was a hard no for me. Thankfully, standing my ground, I found an even better opportunity about a month later. (Can't let these corporations continue to win, keep holding out for your benefit as you can! lol)

This vacation was a nice reset before really hitting the ground running in the new role. I'm terrible at capturing photos when traveling, and I did so much more than what the pics suggest, but just sharing a few I have. :)

Awesome to get away. Amsterdam is a delight, even though it rained for most of the time while we were there. The Anne Frank house was an unforgettable and sobering experience. And learned quickly not to wander into the bike lanes!

Yea I've usually only gone in the summer so the weather was new to me. And +1 on the Anne Frank house experience... and the bikes lol. As familiar as I am, I almost got hit by one this time as well haha
