Hi, I recently bought a Toshiba 3960 that was modded for two channel sound. When I put in a CD, the thing vibrates pretty badly (you can feel vibration when you put your hand on top) but seems to play OK. Shouldn't the player be able to play CDs w/o vibration? I imagine it may be hurting SQ, but I'm frankly not trained to tell yet, or my other components are too mid-fi to hear any problems. Reactions or ideas?

Thanks, Mike

This is a common problem with the Toshiba players. I bought four of them and never got one that didn't vibrate (I kept exchanging them at Best Buy). It's hard to say what it's doing to the sound since I never did hear one that didn't vibrate.

It's anything from bad cd to bad transport assembly. It's probably not a good thing.
