Today I got my Marantz 2270. It's basically a 1971-1975 receiver that looks great, is durable, and sounds great. For more stuff about the receiver itself, check out http://www.audioreview.com .

I have my Creek OBH-11 hooked up to the preamp outs of my receiver, and I have noticed that I like the sound better this way.

Heh...

...and it's actually not 'source direct'...

...I have a great degree of control over the bass and treble.

Is anyone else doing this?

If so, what with.

FYI: I'm using a jukebox Kenwood 424-M 200 disc CDP into my Marantz 2270, then using the preamp out to my OBH-11, then from there into my HD-600s.

Interesting - it does make sense. I would imagine a receiver would put more effort into a purer signal out of the pre-outs than the line outs. It's probably largely dependant on the individual piece, but a good thing to try both ways.
