After reading a thread at hydrogenaudio and seeing the page referenced therein makes me think the Wolfson DAC on the Chaintech AV-710, Mad Dog (Entertainer?) etc. aren't actually getting 24bit 192 khz for the hi-res analog out but 20 bit 48 khz sound, or perhaps 24/96.
It makes sense that they're rerouting the digital out to the special discrete dac, but who knows... really, does anyone know for sure? The main concern is the last (current) statement "The Envy24HT-S supports a maximum of 24/96 over the 3 IS2 links using stereo DACs only."
Also can anyone with a Santa Cruz Catalina comment on which DACs, op amps, other ICs are onboard?
