This is the most expensive website I have ever had the misfortune of stumbling upon. But, OK. After having read hundreds and hundreds of threads over the past few months, I'm about to buy headphones and an amp.
My plan is:
headphones - K701 (HD 650? No, no, no, K701!?!)
amplifier - CIAudio VHP-2
my source is: lossless -> Squeezebox Duet (probably will eventually get a separate DAC)
To make sure I'm not making a big mistake, those who know 2 or 3 of these amps. Which do you think is best and why (in particular for K701)?
VHP-2 amp with VAC-1 power supply
Gilmore Lite with dedicated power supply
HR Micro Amp with Astrodyne power supply
I'm not after that nice, fuzzy tube sound, just something clear, transparent, balanced, and dynamic for mostly classical and jazz.
