Need help locating vertical stand for headphone amp and DAC separates. Looking to save desktop space by standing amp (tube ones - not so much)/DAC separates (such as offerings by Bryston, HeadAmp, Schiit & possibly others) on sides. Currently own M&M stack and planing upgrade(s). Have communicated w/one offeror and confirmed that standing one of their amp/DAC separates on sides can be done, however HUGH safety concern due to possible tap and fall-over. Any existing stands (or yet to be designed ones) should be designed to avoid tip-overs. Think of an up-side-down-T, _II_ design concept (with proper footers - bearing surfaces as counter weights). Any such vertical stands out there?

What tube amp are you thinking of? Because if the tubes are on the top of the chassis (mostly to dissipate heat from them instead of trapping it inside using the chassis to dissipate it), you won't save much space given you'd have to have a lot of space to the side of those tubes to 1) vent them and 2) not singe your hand, headphone or anything else. If you're having the amp itself fabricated, even off a DIY kit, tubes can be installed off the board, you just run wires to the mounts, so basically you can have the tubes on the side that will be on top and even mount the knob so the indicators on it are right side up.

In any case you could have something like the NuForce Icon stands fabricated. The side of the amp basically slots into it to hold it up.

Not considering tubes.

Well, I thought "not so much" still meant they're in the running.

BTW if you have separates, two components side by side vertical sometimes aren't that much more space saved than if they were sitting the right side up.

You are right. I should have been clearer. Thank You for your responses. Was observing that amps/DAC w footprint size of sheet of paper takes up considerable sq-ins. Turning them on sides like pic (NuForce) you sent appear to save space.

It would if the DAC and amp are much, much longer than they are tall/thick. And hte NuForce Icon isn't only thin, they have both a DAC and amp circuit inside (depending on which model you're looking at), so normally you'd only need just one of them.
