may well be some stocks players that can do that, should be, we are in 2007!!

my iriver h140 with rockbox can do all of that, i am sure there are others too...

I think most of Cowon's players also fit your needs. At least the D2 does, because I think it does have folder-based navigation as an alternative to ID3 tag categorization.

How much space do you need?

at least 1Gb to fit an album on I want it to be as cheap as posible without too many sacrifices. All the rock box players seem rather old or expensive
