Hey

Looking to buy a new pair of headphones. I'll be using them mostly for music, but movies, and a bit of gaming as well. These will be connected to the via my PC to the STX.

I listen to all kinds of music. Prog Rock, Alt Rock, Funk, Fusion, Jazz. Tool, Porcupine Tree, Opeth, Led Zep, Chick Corea, Tower of Power. You get the idea.

They're for home use, but I'd prefer closed cans. Should be comfortable. Also want decent performance for movies as well. I like a nice, balanced sound, tight bass with a nice punch (not to boomy), with good instrument separation, and clear vocals.

Basically, an all rounder. Budget is 130-150$, but I can stretch to 200$ if there really is something that stands out.

ultrasone hfi608 or 780 (more bass). very versatile, do well without amp straight out of the laptop, great sq, dynamic and reasonably sturdy. You have to like its forward presentation though.
