I do want the grand duke too and the prime dac. Hopefully some stuff will sell
GD is outstanding for acoustic music, I prefer with silver cable, but most people like the stock cable, anyway, another must have.

Prime dac is not finished, only a few have the boards for testing.

These days VE ZEN SU has fallen into my hands, I think there must be a reference to this Venture Electronics flagship in this thread, a bud that in my scheme of things I never thought I would have the opportunity to hear, mainly due to its price (which I will not go into to value more in this mini opinion) that is very far from my goal to spend on the hobby. Just thank @Charlyro222 that he sent me his game, just because he thought he had to listen to them, I am so impressed by this fact that I can only thank him.

I'm not good at describing sound so it's not a review, my personal taste is quite special so my opinion is just that, my opinion.

I tried SUN DICE, which is quite close or at the same level of the sound that I am looking for, I quite like it. But with this ZEN SU the impressions are quite different. I will not describe anything related to how the construction is, better a photo that looks much clearer than anything I can say (wow, the cable is wonderful, the connector is for the use that it is manufactured in theory, I have used it in equipment humble laptops with the 4.4mm connection).

001.jpg

I measured it with my equipment as a simple way to see what I hear, take it with a grain of salt.

002.png

Measured also gives 308 Ohm.

How do they sound? A couple of times while I'm working they've talked to me, and I've tried to take them off like I take off a headphone, just anecdote.

I usually just mark the bad things when I talk about a bud, always, here I have it very difficult, really.
There are no veils, and weaknesses are obscured by the "effortless" feel of this bud, luscious highs and mids, and a truly exceptional low end providing just the warmth needed so it's not boring (which it isn't). at all), the Subbass is the weakest point, it is perceptible and it moves enough air so that we know that it is there, it is not the protagonist. The stage is somewhat above average, there are no tricks or sacrifices of other frequencies to achieve that sensation, and the details appear from all sides of the head, it is a surprising sensation and the brain has to process, very good laterality as well.
I have no problem admitting that it's incredibly good for my ears.

Tuning that is far from the usual low mids, but that does not raise my alarms, nothing is out of the pleasant here IMO, sharp protagonists but they are pleasant in every way, perhaps someone very sensitive may have problems here. The pinna gain that may seem high but is what is necessary to, for example, “feel” the pulsation of an electric guitar string, as if you were playing yourself LOL.

Little more to say, I do not go into complex analysis, I hope it will be useful

This is probably my first post on Headfi web & definitely my first post on this thread.

Been a 'not-so-a-long-time' fan of VE since 2020, one thing that I always keep with me at all time is the good ol' VE Odyssey HD (OHD)

(BIE Pro paired with OHD)

I had many other dongles like Avani & Abigail and the mega dongle Megatron, but I always goes back to this one, it's just timeless for me.

Oh, btw have u heard about the upcoming Monk GO Final Edition? anyone got news/infos?

Supernova arrived a couple days ago. Holy crap, are these neutral!

I "modded" mine by adding some foam below the ear-pads. Without it, my ears touch the fabric and it's kind of irritating.

Of course, when it's time to critically judge these, I will remove the foam.

Yeah, that was what prompted me to roll ear pads as well.

Turned my Supernova into over-ears using these bigass Misodiko gel cooling pads for the ATH-M50. They are much bigger than stock but fit well and are very comfy. They also add quite a bit more distance between the cans and my ears, and the difference is audible in the soundstage.

These pads, also Misodiko but for the Sony MDR 7506 and in mesh, are a neater, more compact fit and also change the sound less imo. They just about fit over my ears but may be too small for some with bigger ears.

Really the only thing I have to complain about the Supernova is that the grooves for the ear pads are so narrow that it’s hard to swop them out to A/B.

Other than that they are excellent value and their synergy with the Megatron is just incredible. Of all the VE products I’ve tried with the Megatron this one has to be the most satisfying pairing.

A really, really good and informative post @-rowan- Thank you!

I really wish the people from the Telegram group and the Facebook group would unite and contribute to the thread (if you were ever on either of those, you know how much info, feedback, and other goodies are posted on there). I made multiple efforts to ask what pads are compatible with the Supernova (knowing that at least one person has the answer), but nobody on Telegram responded =) If i recall correctly, same thing happened some time ago when I asked about people's favorite ear-tips for the BIE.

Feels like gatekeeping, if you ask me. Considering that these people support Lee by purchasing his products, I hope they are aware that they are doing Lee a disservice.

I think Supernova is compatible with a lot of pads, and the more pads we know are compatible with it, the happier people will be because they know all the options out there. It would be even better if we knew how these pads affected the sound (though not necessary).

I don't get why the VE Clan from FB and TG cannot come together as a community and share their experience here, on Head-Fi. After all, newcomers' first stop is likely going to be Head-Fi, so why not give them a warm welcome? Why not make them aware of different

... yeah, I'm thinking out loud, but I just think these headphone have the potential, and have even greater potential with pad swapping. Maybe people like to play around and alter the sound, although the OG sound with the OG pads is how they were designed to sound. There will be more interest and curiosity if we know which pads are compatible. Fine-tuning is what drives this hobby, making changes that get the product closer to your preference.
