Hi guys,

I've been looking to buy a cheap pair of earbuds to pocket as a dd and after a little research, I have decided that I would liketo see what all the hype is about with the Monks. Question is, which ones do I gofor? The Lites are supposed to be more mid focused and more comfortable, but the original Monks are supposed to be more well rounded (more balanced bass + treble.) Coming from my Grado SR60Es which I adore, which ones do you think would best emulate it's sound? Both are the same price, so I'm not too fussed.

Thanksi advance :)

Well if you like earbuds and only have $5 to spend the VE Monks are just ok to me I’ll take the Apple EarPods that came with my phone over them.
Are they really not that good? The sound of my earpods can be very good if I'm sittingin one place and not moving. I find them to be very inconsistent as (for e.g) on a walk, the left driver will be more deeply inserted and be creating more bass and the right will be more highs focused, after a reposition they're fine, but only momentarily. If I want consistently natural sound wopuld it be best to avoid earbuds and instead go for iems? I can get T20i's for £50 if they're worth it, Fideu A73s for £30 and aplethora of other ChiFi IEMs for next to nothing, but will they create the same natural, open sound?

You might start with an inexpensive IEM and see if you like the feel and fit before stepping up. If you can get it, I like the KZ ZS10 quite a bit. To me, it is relatively balanced. I also like the SoundMAGIC E10C quite a lot. I am not sure on the pricing for the RHA and the Fidue--those are both basically free for IEMs that normally cost a whole lot more. I would be sure you know they are genuine and not fraudulent.

I can’t stand earbuds myself but heard glowing reviews of the Monks for so long and gave them a shot so I’m out $5 no big deal. Sorry but not impressed at all they are just ok and probably worth $5 . This is just my opinion. I believe a iem would be your best bet at consistency and you might need a different tip for each ear as a friend of mine has to do. A iem is not going to give a open sound for the most part. I don’t have the Sr60 but have heard them I have a Grado RS1 so they are not as bright but a **** UE would I think be very close and only $20 USD or the KZ ZS3 for about the same money. The **** has a MMCX cable connection so more options for upgrade than the 2 pin .75 mm KZ.

The RHA is at Richersounds on clearance and I have brought from them in the past and they've been excellent. The Fidues are on HiFiHeadphones who are supposed fantastic (according to trustpilot.) I noticed that KZ have recently released the ZSN Pro which are suposed to be more balanced than the already balanced ZSN for £18 which seems to be a rather compelling taster for IEMs. How is KZs sound signature? I want a close to Grado sound, but with a tad more bass.

I've been looking into ****, but they only ship from Ali Express to the UK and for some reason everytime I try to buy from them, my order is rejected. This might be down to the fact that i'm in the UK or something as looking at the buyer transaction history, literally no one is from the UK, but all other European countries. Otherwise I would have bought the **** for £13 in a heartbeat

I have not heard the ZSN Pro but hear good things. Sounds like you've got some seriously good pricing there--I'm jealous!

Haha yeah, got my KEFS for £40, massively reduced, I guess we are lucky in the UK :) But we're still missing certain things the rest of the world get or we have to go to dodgey websites to get them, guess it's just down to luck on how much you pay
