I've been asking about these for a while and thought I should post this thread in case it comes up in someone's search.

If you need multiple outputs out of your source and are looking for an RCA splitter, you can get it at

headroom for 30USD
http://headphone.com/layout.php?topi...tID=0060210000

take five audio in canada for 18.95CDN
http://www.takefiveaudio.com/vampire..._y_adapter.htm

or from vampire wire in florida for about 21 USD
http://vampirewire.com/mcart/index.cgi?code=3&cat=8

or from meier audio in europe for 16USD
http://home.t-online.de/home/meier-audio/

They look different because they come in different configurations, but they are of the same quality I was told. If you order from Vampire Wire you have a choice of whichever configuration you prefer.

Hope this helps!

I bought a RCA splitter (or is it called Y adapter?) locally made by AMX that was around $20CAD. Looks the same and it works so I'm happy. I'm using it to split signal from my sat tv. You shouldn't spend too much on this... definitely not $30US.

well, i ordered mine, and it came to about 28 bucks cdn after shipping and taxes.

that's good enough for me.

a far cry from 30 usd plus shipping.

it really makes you wonder how much the other stuff is overpriced when you think of audiophile profit margins....

One of these splitters costs $4.99 a pair,is built much, much better, actually has gold plating on the inside of the male RCA and has a lifetime warranty. You guess which one.

The cheaper of the two is older and never corroded like this causing Tuberoller to have to explain the corrosion on the jacks of the borrowed $5,500 digital player.

i just purchased the Radioshack Y adapters today.

just note that it's 8.95 CDN each, not per pair.

however, keeping in mind tuberollers photos, that's not such a big deal.

toodles.

Wow, surprising about those vampire splitters corroding. A few weeks ago I bought the super heavy duty Radioshack ones that tube posted about cuz I didnt like cable splitters, and they resembled the vampire ones that got so much praise here earlier. Glad I didnt decide to pony up for the Vampires

The Radioshack splitters now sell for $6.99 the pair and have much stronger contact and a higher quality plating.

I never noticed this corrosion until I was having a hard time tracking down a channel balance problem. I was about to swap tubes on my amps and preamp but decided to check all the obvious stuff first. I have never exposed the splitters to moisture(they were not in the basement that flooded) and the Radioshacks are about a year older than the Vampires and have seen extensive use at all the meets and during a bunch of equipment swaps. That corrosion is incredible and left a nice minty green tint on the jacks of the Teac Esoteric DV-50 that I am still trying to explain to the rep who loaned it to me.

Thanks tuberoller, I have been looking at the radioshack splitters but I thought they might be inferior. I was all set to order a more expensive pair. Now that I know their splitters are good quality I can stop in the shack and get them cheaper and without the wait.
