Hi all, especially Pat. The input transformers from AN are available here: Audio Note Digital Interface Transformers. Silver is available. Almost all of AN parts are available there. I have used them before (for Mundorf silver inductors to build speaker cables) and they are reliable. Some things not in stock can take a while.

I'm feeling peevish over the price of the AN silver tranny.
The Lundahl is $30 delivered and is aes to spdif without the third wire.

Thing is, you would have to replace my new nude Vishay 110 /w a 75ohm resistor to save a few bucks going with the lower end 75/75 silver and you are up over $100.

Cost benefit analysis holds me back ... but the bug is planted.

I've been trying to work with Scientific Conversion so I can purchase the best pulse transformer for the Valab. Well let's just say it's been an adventure and I'm no closer to selecting a transformer, the 947-02 is shielded and has 8 pins so I'm thinking this may be a bugger to install, actually I like 4 pins, it's simpler to install for the technically disinclined like my self.

r8833, did you receive the sc944-05 transformer yet, was wondering what you think of it?

been using the sc944-05 and I find it has a bigger sound stage and the bass is tighter than the pulse transformer...wait till you build a lightspeed it's gonna knock your socks off. Anyone interested in a tubed pre?

Plopped in a 110 ohm nude Vishay on the secondary of the Lundahl for a little more snap-to. Supposedly now I have:

[Transport]75ohm output transformer -> 75ohm cable -> 75ohm||110ohm transformer -> 110 ohm resistor.

For an anal compulsive that's a good day.

.. A bit more focus, things linger more ..

Now having used these precision type resistors I am going to have to swap out the PRP for Caddocks.

Phill, Why not use the Lundhal?
