Through searching, haven't seen a good comparison between these two phones. In fact, i rarely hear about the dt531 when comparing <$100 headphones. I have a pair of Sony V6s, which I don't really like that much, even with the Beyer upgrade. I did, however enjoy the Sennheiser HD280, although they are now my friend's. Another pair I liked at first, the Sony Eggo D66sl, didn't quite measure up to the HD280 after a longer listen. Just wondering, how does a DT531 fit into all this? I'm looking for a semi-portable headphone to use with my minidisc player, and the Beyers look comfortable. Of the three I have tried, I would say i liked the v6 the least and the hd280 the most, although i loved how the eggos felt

pirate, the DT531 isn't closed - but open. Thus, outside sounds bleed into what you're hearing, and sounds being reproduced from the 'phones will leak to the outside.
