V-Moda Bass Freq's Comparison.

Alright! In case anybody was following my situation here, I have received the Lenntek Sonix and have an update. The preliminary results are in: I really like these Lennteks!

They have not been broken in at all, so this can change. But right off the bat, I noticed very prominent lows and mids, maybe not so much on the highs. The Radius Atomic Bass phones I had before I remember having good lows and crisp highs, and maybe acceptable mids. But in my opinion, the mids/lows in the Lennteks work much better together and the music seems to have much more body than other phones I've used.

ljokerl was right, these are phones for bassheads. I havent compared them to the Bass Freqs yet, but if I had to say the quality of the bass is much better. As far as quantity I don't know how they stack up, but the bass sounds very smooth.

The build quality on these things is amazing! All metal enclosures, a metal Y piece, nylon wrapped cord, and a strain relief jack. My only concern is there is no grill or mesh covering the drivers. I've never had IEMs like this before; could this be a problem?

I'm very happy with these for $20 shipped. I would recommend them to fellow bass enthusiasts. The highs are there, but definitely not as pronounced as some may like. Personally I dislike those ear biting hi-hats, but I wonder if things will blend together moreso as they are broken in.

Special thanks to ljokerl for pushing these!

Glad you seem to be liking them. Your sentiments pretty much mirror my own - what the Sonix do best is provide fairly large bass that doesn't seem too detached from the rest of the sound, which is a common problem with other low-priced basshead IEMs (including the Freq's). The only IEM in my current lineup that integrates bass better than the Sonix is the UE MetroFi 220, which retails for $70-80.

Build quality is definitely great for $20 IEMs. Don't worry about the lack of filter on the nozzle - just clean out the barrel once in a while. I own several other IEMs that don't have a grille, and they are fine.

Give them some time to burn-in, too. They'll grow on you. I was disappointed with highs at first too, but they open up a bit with time. Enjoy your new phones, and don't lose them
