I realise that a lot of these cheap DACs like uDAC, Musiland 02 etc are quite popular around here but are they good enough to hold their own in a high end system? I mean would they do well with a $1000+ amp and a T1/HD800 for example? Or would you need to buy a better DAC like a Cambridge? In other words, how big is the difference between a $500 DAC and a $100 uDAC and at what point would a uDAC become the weak link in the chain?

It's always a never ending question of diminishing returns. The cop-out answer is "it's not a weak link if you're happy with it".

As a Musiland 02 owner with a Little Dot Dac coming soon, I also would like to know..
