I'm thinking I will very soon have to replace my ageing sony a818 and due to it's size i'm considering an ipod nano. Is there any way of controlling an ipod without having to install itunes again? Is there an ipod plug-in for foobar? I have been using foobar for several years now and don't want to have the hassle of itunes as well.

Failing the above is there a way (other than format as ntfs) to drag and drop files so it can be considered a removeable drive and used in foobar that way?

Hope someone can help as i quite like the idea of owning another ipod, i've almost forgotten how nice they are to use.

iPod Manager also does a great job.
I used it yesterday to add tracks to my iPod nano, and I found it easy to use and the result were just as expected.

Ah, sorry!
Did not catch that foo_dop = iPod Manager

I suspect the logic is... foo_pod was already used by a now obsolete component... so foo_dop (ie pod backwards) was chosen.

Not that that makes it any easier to follow!
