Hi,

A local audio shop just received a used Nitty Gritty Record Doctor II manual record cleaning machine that is in great condition. They are selling it for $120. That seems like a good price, right? I think the The new Record Doctors (version III) go for about $300 new, and the cheapest Nitty Gritty 1.0s go for about $350.

Because of budget reasons, I was looking for a machine without the motor that turns the records. I was considering buying a KAB EV-1, which retails for $160 new. But the Record Doctor II includes the vaccuum, whereas you have to supply your own with the KAB EV-1.

Hence, all told, do you think $120 for a used Nitty Gritty Record Doctor II in great condition is a good steal?

Thanks!

It seems a steal. You could even make a quick buck on a prompt turn around

. Perhaps flash $100 and plead hardship due to credit crunch... I get that line very often these days from my customers. Drag an extra $10 out your pocket if that fails, and cry that you'll have to walk home with it now, since you just parted with the bus fair

I'd buy it in a second.
