hi,

i have recently bought a pair of UE super5pro to use w XM4. some may have read that i have posted before the combi gives a humming sound when are in contact w the ipod. also the vol knob is only set at 9 oclock position and its already quite loud ( zero is at about 7 oclock position).

those who have the UE will know it comes w an attenuator(ATT) ....dunno what is inside it but know it cuts the sound considerably.

when using w the attenuator, the humming is gone and now i need to turn knob to about 12 oclock position for same vol without ATT at 9 0clock.

also the vocal seems more laid back w the instruments coming forward.

can anyone help me? is it advisable to use ATT?
does the ATT just increase the impedence of the IEM?

any experience/advice will be well aprreciated. thanks

just a note...i enjoy the setup a lot

The attenuator is just an impedence adapter, and you're using it exactly how it was meant to be used.
