If you don't need coaxial, the m-audio transit is about $70-$100.

If you do need coaxial, the e-mu 0404 usb is about $200.

Found it after all.
M-audio transit does the job it seems

Does anybody know of a reason to distrust the quality of the optical spdif signal from the transit?

If the quality is ok it seems like the transit coupled with the Lavry DA10 will give me a DA11 without the features that are useless to me for much less money.

I'm using the E-Mu 0404. It ties you to a power outlet but if that isn't liability it does 24/96 S/PDIF out with ASIO. ASIO is a little glitchy in foobar, but I can deal with it. The icing on the cake is that the E-Mu will do 24/192 over USB, though you get no S/PDIF out above 96k. The analog out is very good. Just under $200.

I'd use the BNC output because it has the least jitter.

Hogwash.
