I have a Toshiba Tecra S2 laptop and the sound card on it has broken completely. According to Toshiba the "best" way to fix it would be to replace the motherboard.

Since this isn't covered by the warranty, I am considering upgrading the sound to a Turtle Beach AAM as a better alternative.

Can anyone tell me, if I get a USB sound card like the Turtle Beach, will it feed sound to the laptop's built in speakers?

No, it won't.

If the internal sound is well and truly dead, and you feel like hacking apart your laptop, you can open it up, clip the lead to the speakers, route that lead outside the case, attach a stereo miniplug, and plug that into the TBAA. Then it'll output to your speakers.
