i have a samson go mic and a schiit modi 2 and when I plug in the modi2 and then plug in the samson go mic I can't control the volume slider of the modi 2, it just immediately slides back to 0.
 
If i do the reverse I can use the volume slider and hear volume, but then i can't control the volume on my USB mic what do i do

Is it possible that your OS is detecting the samson go mic as a device that can output audio (like headphones)?

Windows 10 and 8.1
 
It is showing the samson go mic as both a recording device and as speakers.

I think this is your problem.
It's like plugging in a headset while your speakers are playing, the speakers go silent.
 
You need to disable/remove the samson speakers.
