I'm personally of the opinion that batteries should only be used for portable applications as any well designed power supply will do just as well

You should make sure that the ADuM is compatible with the HiFace, as the ADuM only supports up to usb2.0 full-speed, not hi-speed. I believe I have read reports of people having issues with the HiFace connected via ADuM.

Can you point me to some link on the ADuM-HiFace incompatibilities?
BTW my rig is made up of portable components.

USB2ISO is also based on the ADuM4160 USB isolator, so there's a very strong chance that if that product has a problem with the Hiface then the Circuits@home isolator will have the same issue. Of course, you're welcome to test it empirically; if you do, please let us know your experience

Thanks. That device is not the same as the ADuM4160 USB Isolator. They're saying that their product has a problem with Hiface.

It could very well be why it was in the FS.

Its not a true USB 2.0 device then, its not backwards compatible to USB 1.1 and therefore it should not be classed as a true USB 2.0. M2Tech should have specified that important data.
