I was just wondering what was required to get 24 bit sound from my pc to a usb dac. Which software or codecs do I need to install so that plugging my dac by the usb port allows my to listen to bit perfect audio at 44.1khz.

Thanks for the help, and feel free to direct me to another thread if this has already been answered.

CDs are 16 bit. Unless you have 24 bit music (which is rare) all you can do is upsample the CD data, which is going to give you nothing but problems.

Alright, so will playing my ripped cds through iTunes using my USB DAC give me optimal sound? Or should I use other software (Foobar)? I just don't know what other software would do to improve the sound quality.
