Hi

does linux support usb audio class 2 ?
i notice that many DAC manufacturers are providing drivers for windows and state that their DAC is supported on MAC without any drivers , however none of them (at least the ones i seen) does not provide
any information regarding if their DAC is supported on linux or not.

i have found the following discussions :

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/insider_wintp-insider_devices/windows-support-for-usb-audio-20/0d633b9f-3193-4c63-8654-fb10b3614a04?auth=1

http://www.thewelltemperedcomputer.com/HW/USB_DAC.htm

which states that linux support usb audio class 2 , but i can't find any offical confirmation on that.

can any of you confirm that USB audio class 2 DACs works on linux ?

Thanks !

Creative x7 is working on linux, however one can't guarantee you without a real test that some specific dac is working without any problems on linux on specific hardware. :)

The one USB DAC I have used with Linux ran as class 2 compliant with no additional drivers.
Emotiva Stealth DC-1.

And the Gustard U12 USB converter also is recognized as class 2 and works perfectly with Linux.

There's no doubt in my mind the latest Linux distributions are class 2 and need no drivers based on the kernel.
However, I'm sure its possible to find some odd/specialized distribution with that left out of the build but that would be the exception.
