I want to buy a 5g iPod, which works only with USB 2.0 (?), but I dont know what version USB my computer has. How would one figure out which version of USB is on their computer? What would I have to do if my computer doesn't have USB 2.0?

If you bought it within the last few years, it should have USB 2.0. If not, USB 1.1 works with iPods, it just won't transfer nearly as fast.

If your comp's from year 2001+, it should have USB 2.0.

To check on XP, you can:

Right-Click on My Computer > Properties > Hardware Tab > Device Manager >

attachment.php

Then click on the + sign next to Universal Serial Bus Controllers and see if there's mention or enhanced/2.0.

If it is not USB 2.0, you should be able to get a card fairly cheap, assuming it's not a laptop. A NEC chipset USB 2 card should run no more than $30 retail, or even $20 shipped from Newegg.
