Saturday is traditionally the day I knock a pizza together.... it's usually a pretty complex pizza but today I put one together that any head-fier on a budget can make and believe me it's a lot tastier than Ramen noodles. I've tweaked my recipe to make it easy to make (bread mix instead of using fresh yeast, uncooked sauce instead of usual complex 2 day sauce etc etc.) Feel free to upload your dinner to this thread...

For the sauce you will need:

a jar of crushed tomatoes
3oz of tomato puree
2 tablespoons of garlic puree (you can buy it in a tube)
1 level tablespoon of black pepper
1 tablespoon of sugar
2 teaspoons of dried basil
1 teaspoon of dried oregano
Note: do not add salt

Mix all of these ingredients together in a bowl and set to one side.

For the dough you will need a packet of white bread mix:

Follow the instructions on the packet.. it usually involves adding warm water to the mix and then kneading on a floured surface for 10 minutes....... put the dough in a warm place until it's doubled in size... then knock it back and divide it into two and knead into two ball shapes..... place on pizza trays coated with olive oil and brush some olive oil onto the dough to stop it from drying out...... allow to double in size again. When it's doubled in size knock the dough down to span the pizza tray......

Coat the dough with sauce and then cover with mozzarella cheese (or the cheese you prefer) add toppings of your choice and then bake in a 450F (230c) oven for about 18 minutes or until cooked. Tastes a lot better than a frozen supermarket pizza.

I was very impressed with the taste of this simple pizza... the raw sauce is very very good and comes close to my stock 2 day sauce yet only takes 30 seconds to make. The bread mix will never match the fresh yeast, strong flour, olive oil and evian water method but it's better than the supermarket bases and beats the pants off pizza hut junk for sure.

Recipes and pictures of your dinners are welcome in this thread ..... the more the merrier!

Edit: My kitchen is in the process of being redecorated hence no tiles on the wall

My next dinner upload will include tiles as the tiler is putting them up on Monday

Thanks for the recipe with pictures. I'll have to try that sometime.

What's a good "warm place" to use, and approximately how long does it take for the dough to double in size?

mmm it's about dinner time. you should have a head-fi meet at your place and make a super large pizza. how about 70cm in diameter?

Nice!

I've been really wanting to learn how to cook, but I'm too busy to take a real class. I wonder if there are any forums like head-fi for cooking.

But that's why I love head-fi, it's so eclectic.

Pink -- you need to do this every week... Saturday cooking hour with Pink!

You could even recommend some headphones and music to go with the meal. "A pair of Grado 225s playing Tool really brings out the panache in the sauce."

That aside, the stuff that's on my dream pizza are as follows

Mushrooms
Bell peppers, red and green
onions
olives
sausage
pepperoni

Light on sauce, heavy on cheese.

Good stuff, basically a Pizza Hut supreme pizza. You'll eat lots of it when you have a book with buy-one-get-one-free pizza Hut coupons.

This is the last thing I took a picture of. Vegetarian orange beef, the "beef" is home made.

On the off chance anyone is interested, I could post the recipe.
