is there anyway to up the sound quality of the mp3s already on my computer. most have a bit rate of 128 or 192 but i would like to make the songs higher quality. Is there any way to do this without reimporting my whole disc collection?

Nope. Any re-encoding to a different bitrate will hurt the quality. Your only option is to re-import.

I second Coltrane's response. There is no way you can recover the lost bits of information that had been discarded during compression of said MP3 files. They are permanently lost and your only avenue to better quality is to re-encode from the original (CD or WAV).

Yeah, Sorry mate the only solution is to re-rip. I should know I had to re-rip over 6 days worth of music to lossless.
