Upgrading to a 64gb iPod Touch?

have a smaller iTouch which I mate with either an Ety4p or Image x10 and sound is phenomenal. Mine is the second generation Touch. Amplification maikes it better, of course, but just with a higher end IEM it's very very good.

If you are after pure soundquality without external AMPs and LOD cable help then Sony X1000 series walkmen and AMP3 is better choice but since you like current ipod touch capacity and APPs feature it still has great sound quality. You can also buy iBasso T4 or Nuforce icon mobile AMPs with ALO micro dock which(AMPs)are very slim and small they won't add extra bulk as other AMPs do but you will get clean line out signals through ipod touch dock and improvement willbe great for overall soundquality vs HP. BTW later you can also buy SRS WOW dock adapter to enjoy better soundquality.

Are the Sony and AMP3 available in 60gb capacity or higher? I wanna stay away from portable amps though. It kinda takes away from having a thin and light music player. I just want it to be my music player + decent IEMs.

It'd be an advisable upgrade then?

I am hoping they kept the SQ the same as or better than the 2g Touch.
I would be interested in reading any comparisons from owners of both.

I am finding that the 64GB touch has similar SQ to the iPhone 3GS. For those that do not know, this is a GOOD thing. High quality files (256AAC or ALAC) direct from the headphone out to JH13s sound quite good. I would guess they used the same (or similar) DAC as the 3GS.

Ive just bought a 64gig touch, and in my opinion using TripleFi's, this new touch is the best sounding "iPod" Ive ever had.
And Ive had:

iPod 5.5g
iPod Classic
iPhone 3G and 3Gs
1st and second gen shuffles
3rd Gen nano.

its smoother, cleaner and has more punch to it.

And of course the usability of it is a dream.

this makes me feel good. i want to get a 32gb soon to replace my 30gb 5g and was worried about the sq. i plan to get a pair of victor fx500 to go with the touch. i probably won't use an amp or line out. thoughts?

The fx500 is driven probably better than any iem i have seen with the ipod touch. there is nearly no distortion (even when given strict hardware tests). I will be conducting my second (and more thorough) review of the fx500 soon. it is mostly done, but I can say with confidence that it is a wonderful phone to drive from the touch. i have all the phones listed in my signature and a few more (customs like the JH13 Pro) and it is by far the easiest to drive.

The touch 2g (i don't have the new one) pulls amazing frequency response with it and unlike the JH13Pro, exhibits no distortion, or nearly none.

This makes me feel a bit better with my purchase. Looks like I'll be getting a new 64gb Touch in a few months then.

How are the Denon C710s with the Touch?
