I haven't dabbled too much with more hi fi laptop/computer audio but i'm wondering for my laptop what I should start too look into for upgrades. I'd like something that is decently portable. Right now my setup is just flac files played through banshee or mpd/sonata (I'm a linux user) using the stock soundcard. I'd like something similar to at least what I'm getting from my portable rig which is:
cowon s9 -> pa2v2 (with stock 3.5mm mini to mini cable) -> re0's. I'd most likely be using my laptop setup with re0's or SR60's (looking for something up the grado line here (possibly a sr125)). Budget is around $300 but feel free to suggest stuff above the budget. Oh, I have a Sony Vaio as a laptop with no s/pdif port but it's got decent specs
