I got my hd555s in March and have been happy with them. However, I feel like something is missing from the music though I can not place what. Something just feels like it should be there but isn't. I have been looking into the 650s and the Denon D2000s but other suggestions would be nice. I really enjoy the laid back feel of the hd555s. My budget is $350. My uses for the phones are music, movies and games. I listen to almost every genre of music besides country. I go from my audigy 2 zs (optical out) / cd player (optical out) to my Harmon Kardon AVR 135. I am not sure if this will be able to power my new cans or not; if not could you suggest an amp to go with the phones and where in my setup the amp would fit in? Thanks.

I would suggest the HD650 with a Cardas cable. I love the aid back yet crystal clear sound of this combi.

HD650, then get an amp to go with it. An amp will do more to the sound than a cable will. If you want a good amp, the b22 ($400 to make) will blow your mind away, but its a DIY amp. I'm sure many people would be willing to build one for a little extra. If you want something on the portable side, the HeadRoom Micro amp is fairly good with the HD650s, makes them a little more laid back than they are if thatswhat you are looking for.

good choice - I went 555 --> 595 --> 600 --> 650, which is a more expensive route to mecca
