So ive got a Grado SR 125i and ive done the hole punch mod. added 3 holes and feel like ive got some real good base nearly perfect amount. I also play the grados through a JDS labs C421 headphone amp. The base booste makes it sound real nice and the amp does definitely make a difference in the overall tonal quality. SO the question is with these mods what would be a good upgrade since the 125is dont really sound like the stock ones with added base and all. Will the ps500 be a good upgrade with the modded grados ?
 
how much of a upgrade are the ps500's im looking for cleaner sound something real crisp and maybe more of a upgrade than a subtle upgrade. i want the base to be clean and extensive somewhat like how i have now but just cleaner. mids and highs are extreamily important as i like vocals and instrumentals.

my budget is around the price of the ps500's so anything along that price range

I havn't heard the PS500, but I upgraded from RS2i to HE-500 - no regrets.
