Hmmm...my E6 isn't doing a very good job with them. Getting some really high hissing and noise. Not a whole lot of difference from plugging it into my phone. Get a little higher volume and slighty more pronounced bass and mids. Can't really even hear it unless I pay attention.

maybe because the E6 is amplifying noise from your phone because E6 is an amplifier?
 
anyhow, you might really need to change amps i think the E6 wont do justice with your t70

I am, I got a iBasso P4 on the way. The E6 was for my AKG 271's that I returned.

I don't think a phone makes noise, it is the quality or lack of from the amp, source and material surely? I think P4 from what I have been reading will be the best solution within the framework that the OP has. The phones part in it is more about the higher the quality the more revealing of source and amp inadequacies surely?
