Upgrade Mac Mini power cable C7 plug: polarized vs non polarized

So, I'm thinking of upgrade the stock power cable for my mac mini.
It is a non polarized c7 plug, see pic above.
Both sides are round, a figure eight if you will.
 
I've got this older PS audio c7 cable, except the plug is the polarized version, ie. one side is square.
See pic below of the polarized connector (not my actual cable).
 
 

 
 
I'd love to be able to use my square version (polarized) with my new mac mini, except it has a non polarized jack (round).
 
Would it be foolish to use a razor blade to shave off the corners to make it fit?
I can't find an adapter from polarized to non polarized.
Any thoughts or advice??
