I got my m40x's about half a year ago on a black Friday sale for ~$85. After using them for a while, I've found it to be a little boring and lacking soundstage. I heard that upgrading to earpads like the ZMF Cowhides increases the soundstage while adding to comfort. I have looked at the Phips 2XHR (through a few reviews) and it seems to be a nice choice to replace the m40x. My question is should I keep the m40xs and replace the earpads, or just switch to the 2XHR. Also, I'm wondering if anyone finds the BE2 Hybrid Earpads to be any good. Thanks.

Upgrade the ATH-M40x ear pads now, then wait for a X2HR sale to arrive starting Thanksgiving.
