Hi I want some suggestions for upgrades from sennheiser 518. Comfort is the main priority for me but so is audio quality ad well.

Im willing to spend under 300 dollars on the upgrade. I prefer the headphones to be as light weight as the 518

What do you guys suggest?

Thank you!

I suggest sell your 518 and get either:

598
or
AKG 7xx (much less bass though)

With about $100 on an amp and $30 on a DG sound card

Hello!

Not sure about the AKG K7xx series, but the HD598 do not need an amp at all, with one, will not improve much. Not worth it unless you already have one!

For my amp I use a Xonar DG for my computer amp and a fiio e6 for my portable amp.

I see a lot of suggestions for Sennheiser 598, is it worth the upgrade?

Do i have any other options? :p

THANK YOU I APPRECIATE IT

Hello!

I am not sure about the driver differences between HD598 and HD518 but I do find better clarity although not perfect on the HD598! In terms of sound signature, the HD518 offer ted more bass than the HD598 and the HD598's mids are more forward. If you prefer punchy bass, the HD598 are definately not for you :/

Hope it helps!

Never heard them, but i have read many good things about them.

Another vote for the HD598, unless you want more bass, then the DT770's will do.

I think i understand what you want. With the HD598, the bass is present, but it lacks the impact. With V-Moda's, or any bassy closed back, the bass always has more impact and punch to it.

Why don't you go for the M100's then? They're a fantastic pair of headphones.
