Upgrade From HD600 To Beyerdynamic T1.

I might end up just buying the DT880/600 again, but getting a nice tube amp to help "warm" it up a bit.

Maybe DT880 + Schiit  VALHALLA 2. That would be $650.00 give or take.

good phone but no soundstage... and not that great control and articulation anyway

Why not consider AKG KXX or K712 would be the best Hifi sounding for a low price.

or give T1 and HD800 a try I bet they have something special.

The T90 are a very good headphone if you are a fan of the Beyers house sound. The bass is tight and extends low, mids are clear not to forward, the highs sparkle(on good recordings can be harsh on poor ones). When amped well they are lively and very transparent. The only complaint I have seen on them is they are bright so if that's not your thing they may not be for you. Buy with good return policy if you're not sure.
Good luck

I wonder if it's worth the extra 300 to go from the DT880, to the T90?

Also, I really like the Beyerdynamic sound, i just am not a fan of the harshness that they sometimes have in the top end. Thats why i'm thinking a tube amp would go good with them.

Well, in the end i think i am going to get HD700, because they seem like the middle ground i'm looking for. Plus right now on amazon there only 550.00 new. I also still might pick up a nice tube amp to go along with them.

Thanks everyone for the input.

Hope that you're not disappointed.  The HD 700 is the black sheep of the family and a very polarizing can.

If you want to waste your money :D really I had this... terrible... DT880 bass is even tighter and AKG bass while lacking, delivers more convincing drums. however good soundstage.

but my friend likes HD700 only with heavy EQ.

Just saying, i got me an Asgard 2, and HD700. This is by far the best audio i have ever heard. I have no clue why there is so much hate towards the HD700, the slight warmness of the Asgard 2 combined with the HD700 is just fantastic. Although i will admit, when using the brighter Magni 2, they where a little on the bright side. I think when you pair the HD700 with a sightly warmer amp, they are 10/10. They are a pretty huge jump form the HD600 IMO
