Hi all,

I'm in the process of replacing a broken pair of JH13s and am also now considering buying another desktop amp for them. I paired my original JH13s with a Corda Symphony II, which I had primarily for the DAC, because my main source is a laptop. I've the same need now (DAC+amp, but not necessarily in one unit), so my main question is whether amps/DACs have moved enough in the last 2-3 years to warrant an upgrade - particularly given that I'm using CIEMs, where an amp is perhaps of less value than harder to drive cans. Is there anything <$1500 that's so superlative that I should seriously consider spending the money?

Edit: I had thought about JH3A with the bass boost disabled (to have the best of the JH13's relative neutrality with the custom amp and active cross-over), but it seems that not all is entirely well with production of the JH3As at the moment, and it seems as though the setup might be a bit limiting if I wanted to pair them with a different/better amp in the future.

Cheers,
kat
