Hi Everyone!

I've had my M50s for quite some time now and i'm looking to upgrade i would like to go over to open back cans. And i am looking suggestions?

I've been recommended the HD600/650 or the Phillips X2 to name.

Powering the headphones is not a problem as they will be used on my home hifi setup but if they can work with my iBasso dx50 then thats a plus but not a priority.

Thanks in advance!

First thing you gonna learn that your upgrade may as well turn out to be a horizontal-grade or even downgrade.
Open-back cans are generally better at resolution and worse at lows.
600/650 are recommended by many so if you trust crowd opinion, go right for it.

What would you suggest as an upgrade?

I wouldn't be getting rid of the m50s and would keep them for more bass heavy music. resolution and better soundstage is what i am after.

If you crave resolution you should go orthodynamic (Fostex t20rp mk3) or even electrostatic (Stax). If you need soundstage, try those cheap Superlux HD681/Samson SR850 semi-open cans. Senn 650/600 seem to have narrow stage.
