I just received my stock WA6 today

As you can see they updated the top nomenclature to accommodate the fat bottle 6EW7 driver/output tubes. Jack told me that it is only available in silver at this time.(It's a dark silver) Also, my unit came with an Electro-Harmonix 5U4GB Rectifier. Any opinions? I have a Svetlana 5U4G in stock. I was wondering if that would be better. I also have some RCA 6DE7's in stock as well. Since the unit is brand new and only has a couple of hours on it I don't want to comment on the sound at this time other than I'm extremely happy with how it drives my HD650's.

congrats! it's about time they enlarged the socket housing to allow
use of the fat bottle 6ew7, which is so much more satisfying for
classical and jazz...the 6de7 is punchy but has smaller soundstage,
whereas the 6ew7 is slightly more laidback but has a larger
soundstage presentation...both of these types need at least 10hr.
burn-in to sound their best...

the 5u4g variants are good overall but the gz34 and 5r4gy, as well
as the gz30, are much more refined in SQ...the chinese or russian
tubes are fine, although a bit grainy in the mids and are not as
reliable as the english or american makes...

if your unit has the cap upgrades it will take some time for the sound
to open up and stabilize...otherwise it shouldn't take more than 100-200 hrs.
on the stock unit...good luck and enjoy.

I asked them about this a long time ago. I am glad they finally did it as it only makes sense and doesn't cost anything more than any other hole.
