You're confident or believe fitting the AD2000x pads to the ADX3000 will help improve the headphones? Perhaps I should try the stock pads first before buying these or if you're confident, I guess I could order some and do some comparisons (assuming they are easy to put on/take off). Do these definitely fit? There are also these: https://www.brainwavzaudio.com/coll.../headphone-memory-foam-earpads-xl-size-velour someone said it transformed their AD2000x stock pads but no ADX series headphone is listed as compatible.

I did not say that they will fit the adx3000, just that they are probably the closest thing to ath-adx5000 ear pads.

Oh, ok. Well no matter how close they are to ADX5000, obviously it's absolutely crucial that they fit lol or it would be pointless to buy. I appreciate your comment but not super helpful... anyway I've messaged Audio Technica regarding spare pads so let's see if they get back to me.

True. I mean the known flaws of the ADX3000 (too bright, lacks a bit of bass and something about the 4k band). Apparently, ADX5000 pads help reduce the brightness. If the AD2000x pads do that (and fit) I would consider them, or the Brain Wavz pads (but headphones aren't listed as compatible)
pads to increase bass and midrange that reduce treble doesn’t really make sense generally treble would increase with the ear gain would it not? i’d recommend attenuating treble with low density foam or even perforated felt works

You should also e-mail Yaxi and ask if their ATH-AD2000X alcantara ear pads will fit the ATH-ADX3000 as well.

I've no idea, I'm pretty much an audio newbie :) Just going by what I heard on both a video review and written review.

I will do, but who is Yaxi? Also I need to be sure the AD2000X will actually be of benefit and not make the headphone worse overall. I will do further research and will see how the stock pads are myself.

I would recommend trying foam/felt inserts first before you spend money, it worked for my DT770s and if they can be fixed then anything can

Ok, do you have an example that I can check out? Maybe from Amazon, AliExpress or eBay please? :)
mine are just homemade with materials from spotlight (a fabric shop down here). just any shop bought felt

I don’t know why but I’m in the mood to buy some audio Technica again. Was my first head out the door into good headphones. Whilst I can’t remember what model they were, they weren’t expensive but sound good. I also can’t wait for dad/son moments with music gear

What are you thinking of? The R70xa is a great starter (the x is good too but less detail) I've only ever had Audio Technica headphones. The ADX3000 coming soon are my 3rd pair.

Yaxi is basically a Japanese Dekoni, even if they existed for even longer than Dekoni has. I have seen the ATH-ADX3000 review with the stock ATH-ADX5000 ear pad swap:

https://den-fi.com/audio-technica-adx3000-review/

...and while measurements and listening tests were done, the amp list that they used did not include the Asgard 3, which is what you have, so it really is up to you in choosing whether or not the stock ATH-ADX3000 velour ear pads will work with your ears or not. They should be more than sufficient for gaming, but whether they work for music or videos is totally up to you, as you might need something else, like a warmer-sounding AKM-chip DAC or something like that.

I'm planning to get a Schiit Modi Multibit 2 as my DAC when it's back in stock. Isn't that on the warm side? That should help together with the Asgard 3's warm signature. Do I have that correct? That review was one of the ones I read. ADX5000 pads on an ADX3000. I will try the stock pads and see how they sound. I do listen to a ton of music though.

I once owned the Schiit Gungnir 1 Multi-Bit a few years ago and it basically made recordings “more revealing” by pushing everything a little bit forward and making more of the power voltage from the XLR (balanced) output. From what I heard from others is that when you moved down from Gungnir 1 Multi-Bit to Bifrost 1 Multi-Bit to Modi 1 Multi-Bit (assuming that all only used the RCA, or unbalanced, out), your soundstage slightly narrowed down a little bit as you downgraded. This should be from the downgrade for the power supply, as the Gungnir 1 body was about 2 twice as large as the Bifrost 1 body and the both having a built-in power supply from the Modi 1 Multi-Bit, which should have been a wall-wart, or an power supply in a seperate adapter brick.

Schiit models are different now with different PCBs, power supplies, etc., but the general model scaling remains and the multi-bit DAC chip concept of medical-grade “bit-perfect” DAC processing is the focus for your potential modi 2 multi-bit purchase. The medical-grade designation in a DAC chip is still really just a gimmick to me, as you should always have a generally consistent power current to your DAC, but it is really on you and what level of discernment you have with your hearing. Can you tell, or discern, the difference during gaming? What about music? Does it remain for videos?

Once again, it is up to you and how want to make this audio chain for yourself.

Can you share a photo of how they are applied? I've literally no idea
I can when I get home, it’s just seated in front of the driver (of course this is simpler with the beyers because of the retaining ring for the baffle, which I placed in front of the felt to hold it in place).
