I think white rappers are better than black rappers. And this is just an observation I've made from listening to hip-hop. I seem to prefer the style of artists such as Brother Ali, Eminem, The Beastie Boys and The Streets to the rap made by black artists. I have no idea if it has to do with the color of their skin, but still...

Another: "Songs of Leonard Cohen" is god-awfully boring. 'Nuff said.

I don't like the Beatles and never really have and since someone will probably be curious, I'm 47 and have been listening to rock and/or roll type music since I was about seven.

I read a quote somewhere once that said that if you didn't like the Beatles your taste in music was questionable at best.

I hate Animal Collective. They receive almost universal critical acclaim, and I don't understand it. I usually try to keep an open mind about genres I'm not fond of, but I don't think I'll ever understand why so many people enjoy listening to a grown man named "Panda Bear" make annoying noises.

I think the "heyday" of rock (1950's-1970's) is a nostalgic love-fest by middle-aged baby boomers and easily led gen-X and gen-Y people who are too damn lazy to look for the outstanding music that is being put out today. It's called the internet, use it.

The fact that people sill fall all over The Beatles like they are gods makes me sick. Their music is simple and boring. They were at the right place at the right time with the right manager. Period. When I hear Hey Jude, I want to kill myself.

Paul McCartney is the hugest wanker in music.... even bigger than Axl Rose. He threatened to pull out of Live8 if Pink Floyd were the headliners over him. Are friggin' kidding me? One of the biggest reunions in music history, and "Macca" wants to close? If I was Bob Geldof, I would have laughed in his face.

EDIT: I have to add that The Wall from Pink Floyd is the biggest piece of pretentious garbage ever written by a band. Comfortably Numb and Empty Spaces are astounding, but the rest is crap.

First off, I've already discussed this in the Embryonic thread, but Yoshimi sucks.

Every Animal Collective album is completely unlistenable. (So glad to see this covered already.)

Post Rock was a great trend.

This is influenced by only a few individuals who posted about how much they liked that Dan Auerbach record... but that is the worst album I've heard all year.

Kill The Moonlight is Spoon's worst album.

I don't really like the Stones. Not sure why. By all accounts I should, because bluesy rock is my favorite genre. I love Led Zeppelin, I like the Beatles, I find the Rolling Stones somewhat forgettable. Sure, I'll tap my foot to Satisfaction, but I've never been compelled to buy their albums.

I can't make it all the way through Dark Side of the Moon. The Great Gig in the Sky makes me want to shove paperclips up my ears (talk about the punishment fitting the crime). Wish You Were Here is one of my favorite albums, however.

Totally agree. What a horrible "song". I always delete it from the playlist as if it never existed.

a resounding HELL YEAH to Animal Collective. Yup, all their albums suck.

Same with Leonard Cohen. I put on his hits albums, im asleep in no time.

all of AC/DCs songs sound the same to me. Except for Thunderstruck. That song rawks.

Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is Wilco's ONLY good album. All the rest are unlistenable to me.

The New Pornographers have ONE GOOD SONG (The Laws Have Changed). Everything else is meh.

i do not get all the Radiohead and Flaming Lips bashing around here lately. These two bands are arguably the greatest of the past decade. Christmas at the Zoo is one of my all time favorite songs.

i HATE 10,000 Days by Tool. Lateralus is genius, Aenima is ok.

Boards of Canada's "Music ahd the Right to Children" is horribly overated. Venetian Snares' Rossz Cssilag Allat Szulettet is horribly underrated.

The Backstreet Boys made AWESOME pop music. Infinitely singable and catchy as hell

well depending on which side of the fence you are on: today's main stream music is horrible(aka: all new rap, pop, hiphop, etc) I suppose there are a few expections, but not many. I mean really... Lady Gaga... What?!?!?!!!?

and for the love of God metal is not a always a "wall of music" and even if seems that way, it usually isn't. Also don't equate metal with bands such as In Flames, Canibal Corpse, Kill Switch Enage, etc(yes I know all those belong in a different genere, more or less, but they all have a wall of music/screaming vocals apporch, more or less) metal is MUCH more then just that, power, prog, symponic, speed, etc. Also lolstudioforce

Oh man, this is going to be fun.

Hip-hop is ****. I used to listen to it religiously, but now I'm sick to death of it. There are a few artists of whom I still enjoy (GZA, Wu-Tang), but otherwise, I don't want to listen to music that glorifies AK-47s, pimping and cocaine use.

I want Eminem to disappear off the face of the planet. All of the man's albums have a very tedious formula. Novelty songs? Check. Song about my mum? Check. Song about my crackwhore ex-wife? Check. Dissing a few celebrities? Check. It's all so dull, Mr. Mathers.

I think Dream Theater are incredibly corny and are embarrassing to listen to. Scenes from a Memory was neat, but the rest is just tripe. James LaBrie makes me want to puke.

I also can't really get behind The Beatles. A few tracks are OK, but otherwise, I find their music trite and dull.

On the subject of Tool, I think 10,000 Days is a pretty decent piece of work. It of course was a giant let-down compared to the genius works of AEnima and Lateralus, but it's still a great CD. Vicarious, Wings, Rosetta Stoned, Intension, Right in Two - They're all great tracks. The album works quite well as a whole. The voice on Viginti Tres never ceases to scare the **** out of me.

Edit: I'll go ahead and admit I haven't actually thought of who the best band of 2000's is longer than the 20 seconds I took to post this, but this band is severely under appreciated.

Agreed. I used to be a big Dream Theater fan. Now I find them and others like them extremely cheesy. But they did introduce me to many other bands, so I'll give them that.
