not to take a huge dump on this thread or anything *cough* *cough* but its me so.....

with all this hype over these be all end alls of the headphone world, and ive been a part of the "community" for long enough to know all about these headphones and could probably come up with a good feel for the sound having never heard them, but with that admitted, i feel absoutely no envy or anything else for the people that are getting these. the ONLY reason i am saying this is to make a point that needs to be made from awhile back. there was a thread about whether or not a person can be happy with their system. and i can only say that ill still take my stax any day of the week over this cadillac priced as a porsche. enjoy those headphones, hope their worth it.

Hey I can still be happy with my system too. Of course, an Orpheus system would make me happier, but it doesn't make me sour on what I got!

I went to my first meet about 2 months ago in search of my first amp for my HD650's.I got to listen to the Stax and Orpheus side by side,and to say these phones are'nt in the same league is an understatement(IMO).The R10's were easily the second best phones there,but still not in the Orpheus class.I really could'nt put the Stax back on after hearing the Orpheus,or R10 for that matter.Anybody that has'nt heard these phones owes it to themselves to do so,it could possibly change your whole headphone perspective.Now I'll have to look for an electrostat amp at my next meet.Gary.

P.S.Thank You Wmcmanus and Agile One for giving me the opportunity to hear these truly world class phones.

He said he bought one. IIRC he has some other high end headphones and did a lot of (maybe all ?) the dealing with that ath-l3000 group buy.
