The version commonly found is not, technically, an unmastered version of Californication. It is an alternate mix of Californication that was sent out to staff and the band members for approval.
 
I am sure you can find it using google.

Yeah that's what I understood it to be too.
Found an excellent link to the alternate release and there is also a version someone has mastered to be similarly EQd to the CD but without all the clipping of the CD release

The megaupload link works well and provides a rich text format file with all the other links you need - I downloaded the mastered flac version and had no issues, all files seem to be clean.

The remastered version of the leaked master is very good from this link. The uploader has remastered it themselves using protools (follow the link in the previous post for more info) to be as faithful to the dynamic balance in the Chilis CD release as possible but without the excessive loudness/clipping/compression/distortion issues the CD is infamous for.
