Looking for a high end universal player that plays SACD, DVD-A and CD. Am considering a new OPPO BDP-83, either standard or SE model. For a budget of $500-900, are there better options on the used market? Denon DVD-5900 maybe?

Decided to pull the OPPO DV-980H from the home theater and use it for a while in the HP system. Using a PS3 as the DVD/Bluray in the HT now.

Oppo83SE does impress these ears well enough. Not that far of the Ref9. Been mentioned that the coming oppo 95 is going to be more focused on analogue sound from the ground up so to speak. But that may be in a year. Otherwise my brother got a primare DVD26 player that make my oppo look small and like a toy. That one doesn´t have bluray support though I haven´t been able to listen to it´s analogue out yet but people that has done has been really impressed. You can tell by the weight that there is some serious PSU:s in that one and it´s more then twice the size.

I'm wondering this same question. Seems like a lot of players play SACD, but not DVD-A. On the OPPO do you need an external screen? I get confused in the OPPO lineup; a friend has one in his HT setup, and I like it.

I don't have a video screen attached to mine.  Just use the remote control for play, pause, etc.
