i'm trying to open/unpack the wasapi.zip download so that i can get a .dll file to place in the "components" folder. the .zip file just wants to open in foobar with an error.

You should be able to open a .zip file by default on Windows w/o 7-Zip/WinRAR. Perhaps your download is corrupted?

If you accidentally associated the .zip extension with Foobar, you'll need to install something else (7-Zip or Winrar recommended) to handle the file. There isn't really an easy way to revert it back to letting Windows handle it.

Not sure if this is gonna be of any help but maybe you can right click the file, click "properties" and under the "opens with" option click "change" and choose the program allocated to opening and extracting ZIP files on your computer. My hunch is that its in some strange way defaulted to open with foobar.

You are most welcome.
Nice to hear that you after some trouble finally got it unpacked.
